On August 14, 1980, Dorothy Stratten was shot and killed by her estranged husband Paul Snider after meeting up to discuss finances and ending their marriage.
Dorothy Stratten (born as Dorothy Ruth Hoogstraten) was born on February 28, 1960 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Dorothy grew up with two younger siblings named John and Louise and her parents Simon and Nelly Hoogstraten. Many of her relatives and friends described her as “breathtakingly beautiful” but she never realized how pretty she truly was.
When she was a teenager, Dorothy attended Centennial High School in Coquitlam, British Columbia and also worked part time at a Dairy Queen in 1977 to help her mom with bills. One day during one of her shifts, she came across a customer named Paul Snider who was 26 at the time. …
Recently, I had cut ties with a guy I started dating because it was a train wreck of a budding relationship to say the least. I felt like I was the star of my own Lifetime movie and this new man was the ominous antagonist.
Upon meeting this guy on a dating app (let’s call him “Derek”) Derek and I immediately hit it off. We had several obscure things in common to the point where I thought fate might of brought us together. We were born on the exact same day an hour apart from each other, had similar upbringings, and we both slept with a stuffed otter animal at night when we got anxious. …
On March 9, 1995, 32-year-old Scott Amedure was shot and killed in his home by his friend Johnathan Schmitz after appearing together on The Jenny Jones Show a few days prior.
Scott Amedure was born on January 26, 1963 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and lived a pretty typical childhood. After dropping out of high school, he joined the army to work in satellite communications but at the time of his murder worked as a bartender. Scott loved getting to spend time with tons of interesting new people.
When Scott was still serving in the army, he came out to his family as gay but everyone in his family was supportive of him. Scott’s brother Frank Amedure Jr quoted it “wasn’t that big of a deal” in the first episode of the Netflix Original Trial By Media which features the case. …
It seems as if many college students fall into the category of working some kind of minimum wage job or an internship related to their major in order to pay the bills. But I have taken the more unconventional path and write on Medium as an income in order to jumpstart my digital media career someday. That being said, when I mention to someone that I have a job without saying what I do, most people imagine I work a more “mainstream” job.
If anything, I’m quite surprised being a blogger isn’t a more common job among college students. You can make your own schedule, research what you’re interested in, and connect with other people around the world all from your couch. …
Trigger Warning: This article discusses a disturbing film that features child abduction, sexual assault and rape, and child pornography.
There is no denying that the popular video app TikTok has taken the world by storm. Almost every Gen Z that owns a smart phone probably has the app downloaded and use it frequently. From the way the app is formatted, certain messages can spread really, really fast. And that includes movie and show recommendations.
One of these recent movie recommendations that has taken over TikTok is a low budget independent thriller called Meghan is Missing. This film was made in the style where all of the scenes are “found footage” and consist of video chat calls, media reports, and other digital recordings. The film was directed, written, and edited all by Michael Goi, and although was made in 2007, it wasn’t distributed until 2011 when Anchor Bay Films picked it up. …

I’ve always had the opinion that being aware of yourself (or self-aware) is one of the most overlooked, yet one of the most powerful things you can use. Self-awareness is the ability to have a relationship with yourself, know your strengths and your weaknesses, and be more at ease when navigating the curves in your life.
My best (and frankly one of my only) strengths is I am very self-aware. I always am able to read a room or a situation and be able to identify if something is too much for me to handle. Self-awareness is a great tool to practice coping with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. …
There is truly nothing more painful and unpleasant than a panic attack. From personal experience, my panic attacks truly come out of nowhere with no real trigger, and I have the intense fear as if I’m about to have a heart attack and die. Needless to say, they’re not very enjoyable.
Panic attacks are different for everyone, but a lot of the similar symptoms many people encounter include intense fear, chest pains, shortness of breath, and chills or hot flashes. One of my defining symptoms is I get globus pharyngis (a fancy term for having the sensation of a “lump” in your throat). …

Conrad Henry Roy III was someone that anyone struggling with a mental illness can easily sympathize with. He was born on September 12, 1995 in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts and grew up with two younger sisters and his parents.
Conrad was known to be your typical well rounded teenager. From the outside looking in, he was an honor student who loved to play baseball. Outside of school, he worked with his father and grandfather for their tugboat company and Conrad was in the process of getting his Captain’s license. …
As content creating platforms have grown more popular over the years, one subcategory that attracts an audience of millions is gaming. From reviews, to “Let’s Plays”, to streaming, to commentaries, and a plethora of other video ideas generate an endless amount of communities spread across an arsenal of consoles and games. In a sense, these video game content creators are creating a safe space for their audience to connect with each other the same shared interests of games.
However, because gaming takes such a massive chunk out of the content creating world, there’s a lot of people doing it. There’s a lot of people making a full time living off of it, there’s a lot of people attempting to start it, and there’s a lot of people trying to make a profit from it. With the sea of engagement everywhere you look on social media, it can be easy to get lost in the masses, especially if you’re trying to make it full time as a content creator. …
