Roommates: An Introvert’s Worst Nightmare

Why it’s my dream to just live alone.

I dreamed of going to college for as long as I can remember. I typically enjoyed going to school and learning something new, so I never gave going to college a second thought.

Not only was I excited about the academia, but I was also always excitedly anticipated living with a roommate around a bunch of other 19-year-olds. I knew before college that I’m very introverted and my alone time is precious. Regardless, I was still excited about the new dynamic of sharing a space with people that could potentially turn into friends.

Four years later, I’m partially right.

I’ve had some great roommates that have turned into close friends, but I’ve also had some really shitty ones. My living dynamics have ranged from a single dorm room to an entire apartment.

Everything from the ones that don’t clean up after themselves to the petty mean girls that talk about you when you’re just down the hallway. I got to see a solid mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I guess that’s the whole college experience thing, right?

But regardless of how good or bad my experience was with all of these girls was, my original concern was correct.
